The RCM of Maria-Chapdelaine and Normandin are investing $ 1.5 million each for the development of a new shared industrial park in Normandin. The Heritier Congellerie, inaugurated on Thursday, is the first company to move into the 1.5 million square foot park.
“For a city of 3000 inhabitants, to create an industrial park is an epic,” said Mario Fortin, Mayor of Normandin, during the inauguration of the Congà © terie Hà © ritier.
“It’s been 15 years that we talk about this project,” added the man, proud to see the project come to fruition.
“This is the first milestone of our agri-food industrial park,” added Luc Simard, the prefect of the MRC Maria-Chapdelaine. We are targeting companies that will do food processing with extra-regional and international markets. ”
In total, 1.5 million square feet are available for companies in phase 1. “We want to launch a phase 2 as soon as possible,” noted Mario Fortin, optimistic.
Part of the park will be managed by Normandin, who is the prime contractor for the project, while the other part will be managed by the MRC. “It’s very special to have a shared park,” said Luc Simard, who believes that this model will prevent conflicts between municipalities to accommodate some companies, because the entire territory can benefit from the spin-offs.
“With the rail bridge announced last year and another section of the park planned in the Mistassini sector, this project will provide better access to the North and the processing of Nordic products,” he added.
