A California resident for more than six months posing as a special agent ICE

May 21, 2018 Matthew Ryan Johnstone, residing in the city of Fontana (California), was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment. He spent several months posing as agent of Immigration and customs enforcement United States (U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement — ICE) and did it in a big way. Relatives of a young man, his friends and even the girl was sure that Johnston works in the Federal Agency.
The man had at its disposal all the attributes of a person ICE: fake ID, uniform, tactical vest with the words “Federal agent” and even the machine is equipped with a hidden flashing indicators. Moreover, on his page on the social network Facebook Johnston argued that working in one of the units of the Ministry of internal security of the United States (Department of Homeland Security — DHS). That structure will be subject to the immigration police.

During the criminal activities Johnston took advantage of a fictional status in communication with strangers. He stopped cars to check documents, studied the legality of stay in the U.S. several migrants and even tried to become a patron of the strip joint Déjà Vu Showgirls in city of industry (California).
Everything started to fall apart 11 September 2017, when his girlfriend was behind the wheel of a white Audi fake agent ICE, accidentally turned on the flashing lights. Men at this time there was not. She did it, trying to find the port for charging the phone and didn’t even know about the availability of special equipment. The suspicious car was noticed by the local detective, and he approached the car to see what was happening.
The girl explained the situation and gave the phone number of her lover. In a conversation with a policeman Johnston confirmed his status as the ICE agent and asked to release the guilty friend. The detective did so, beforehand the girl’s name and the name of her boyfriend. Back at the precinct, he first checked the truthfulness of the words “agent” and pointed out that such a person never worked in ICE.
The police immediately took the man “in development” and tried to clarify the details of his life. After interviewing the girl, Matthew, law enforcement agencies have received a lot of useful information. In particular, the girlfriend of the suspect was provided a photo ID, spitzform and weapons which carried a Johnston. She also reported that when meeting the young man told about his work in ICE and said that he is a special agent. In parallel, the detectives followed his pages in social networks, track the movement, trying to figure out what living the “special agent”.
23 October 2017 , the police received a warrant for the arrest of the attacker and conducted a search of his home. As a result of these events was found 32 firearms, 10 thousand ammunition, improvised explosive devices and even an improvised rocket launcher, complete with which was a self-made shells. Of course, most of the weapons were unregistered.

As later admitted Johnston, he began to impersonate a member of the immigration police because of resentment on his ex-wife. The woman at the daughter said that he never won anything in my life than hurt his feelings. In retaliation, the man invented a story about working in the ICE. So the young man tried to prove to the family that he is worth something.
When asked why he chose the variant with the Immigration and customs police, the guy explained, most of his friends were not familiar with ICE and little ideawhat this service is. The next 2 years, Johnston will spend in a Federal prison where guards and prisoners are very real.
