A Quebec woman in hospital after being attacked by a black bear in Labrador
HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, NL – A Quebec paddler who was on a group expedition on a lake in an isolated area of Labrador was injured in one leg when she was attacked by a black bear.
The lady was airlifted to a hospital in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, about 140 kilometers north of her misadventure. She is recovering from her wounds and strong emotions.
The incident occurred earlier this week. Newfoundland radio station VOCM reports that the lady did not succeed in frightening the bear who bit her on one leg, inflicting a deep cut.
It seems that the victim, whose identity and place of residence in Quebec were not disclosed, is a regular for more than 30 years of wilderness boating.
