The success of the film on Freddie Mercury does not go unnoticed. And Universal, therefore, begins to develop a film around another music icon : Prince.
Yesterday considered with a wry smile given the problems behind the scenes, Bohemian Rhapsody is now looked at as a success flaming. With more than 540 million harvested at the box office, the film about Freddie Mercury directed by Bryan Singer (Dexter Fletcher) marks a record for the genre of the biopic, and is clearly in the Oscar race with Rami Malek.
A triumph for a public that does not go unnoticed, and will obviously restart the machine biopic and other films around of the stars of the music. First symptom : the studio Universal, who addressed the Prince, the famous musician who died in April 2016.
I never meant to cause you any bread…
Variety announced that the studio Universal has acquired the rights to several pieces of Prince, in order to develop a film around their music. The description is rather vague, since the idea would be not to go on a biopic classic around the star, which has greatly assured the mission in Purple Rain in 1984 – a scenario in which the singer was recognized, and was completely invested.
Universal would develop, and an original story, which would be framed and conducted by the songs of Prince. Mamma Mia ! would therefore be more to the reference of Bohemian Rhapsody from a creative point of view. This, therefore, launched the game tracks, to imagine, for example, a plot that took place in 1999, in the Delirious Raspberry Street where we eat the Cream and dance the Batdance.
The success of the biopic on the leader of Queen is expected to give a boost to many projects. In October 2018, it is the biopic on Amy Winehouse that has been officially launched, with the support of the family of the artist. There is no doubt that this will be the next big event in the kind.
