Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the decision of Donald Trump to recognize the sovereignty of Israel on the part annexed the Golan heights, seeing it as a violation of international law.
The president of the United States signed on Monday a decree in this regard.
Saudi Arabia “expresses his rejection firm and condemns the declaration of the american administration, recognizing the sovereignty of Israel on the plateau of the occupied syrian Golan”, reported Monday the official news agency SPA.
The Golan heights remains “an arab land syrian occupied” and recognize it as israel is a “violation of the charter of the united Nations and the international resolution,” she added.
“There will be negative effects on the peace process in the Middle East, as well as on security and stability in the region,” said still.
Israel has conquered a large part of the syrian Golan heights (1,200 km2) during the Six-Day war of 1967, before the annexation in 1981. This annexation has never been recognized by the international community.
