It is fully electric. Aston Martin confirmed that actually do crossover, but it is fully electric. The novelty will present at the end of 2019, most likely, it will be called Varekai, reports the Chronicle.info with reference for a New time.
The announcement of the launch of the SUV was made on a recently completed factory St. Athens in Wales. The SUV can be called Varekai, this name was recently registered Aston Martin as a brand. Crossover will build on the new capacities together with Rapide-E, which is scheduled to be presented at the end of 2019.
In 2015 Aston Martin has released a concept SUV DBX, and, apparently, Varekai, will receive some stylistic decisions from this interesting two-door concept. However, it seems rather unlikely that the serial would have at least four doors.
Varekai will be built on a completely new platform, but it is only known that the new crossover will include active traction control. Aston Martin will focus on this technology to withstand the size and weight of SUV. Presumably Aston Martin Varekai Buturlinovsky will be powered by a V8 engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters, capable to develop up to 600 horsepower.
CEO Andy Palmer, confirmed that plans to make Varekai all-electric vehicle was abandoned, probably in favor of the hybrid powertrain. Some form of electrification Varekai is likely still to be implemented.
The novelty will compete with the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne and Maserati Levante.
