In India, the result of sand storms and storm rains that hit the Northern part of the country, more than 60 people were killed, dozens were injured, reports the Times of India.
It is noted that sandstorms and rainstorms were in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and the capital district of Delhi. Stated that to a significant extent, from the disaster suffered Uttar Pradesh, there was the greatest number of deaths – 38.
The storm also caused damage to the city of Lakhimpur in the same state: there are about 117 houses were partially or completely destroyed. In Delhi sandstorm claimed the lives of two people. In West Bengal, died 12 residents. Most people died from falling trees, collapsing walls and lightning strikes.
According to the chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, the government has not yet assessed the damage. It is planned to conduct a survey on the basis of which families will be helped.
“Saddened by the deaths of our citizens due to the storm in some areas of the country. I Express my condolences to the families of the victims. I pray for speedy recovery of those injured. All the victims are assisted by officials”, – wrote the Prime Minister of India Narendra modi on Twitter.
Provided that on the eve of the storm, the government informed the population that the wind gusts can reach up to 70 km/h.
