At the TechCrunch event dedicated to robotics, Boston Dynamics founder Marc Raibert on Friday announced that its robotic dog SpotMini already in the stage of “pre-production”. The company will start to sell robots in 2019. It’s unclear who will be able to buy them and for how much.
“SpotMini in pre-production now,” said Raibert. “We have made 10 designs that are close to option for production. We built them [behind the scenes], but with contractors/manufacturers.”
The first version SpotMini walked, skated, and even placed items in the dishwasher. Last year it was updated and now she can walk independently, using Autonomous navigation. Earlier this year, Boston Dynamics released video, which SpotMini opens the door for another robot.
Also in the beginning of the year there was a photo of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, strolling with one of the robotic dog by Boston Dynamics.
