The British driver “Mitchelton-Scott” Simon Yates was the winner of the General classification of the 73rd stage of the Spanish Vuelta.
The last step to the main victory of his career, Yates has done on the hardest mountain stage with a climb of 3500 meters. On the final mountain of the highest category, Yates escaped from their main rival Alejandro Valverde, and long before the finish line secured a comfortable lead before tomorrow’s stage of friendship.
For Valverde, the last mountain stage ended in complete failure – the Spanish veteran lost to Yates for about three minutes and lost a place on the podium home of the race.
First major career victory was won by the Spaniard Enric Mas, boldly attacked on the final climb Vuelta. Along the way, the Mas, has risen to second place in the General standings.
