The Minister for the protection of the environment of Quebec Isabelle Melanson reported that she is watching whom Ford will appoint her colleagues, and plans in the future to clarify the new government of Ontario the benefits of trading emission allowances.

According to her, the Prime Minister of Quebec Philippe Cuyar not raised this issue at the meeting with Ford a few days ago, but they will see her again in July in the Federation Council − the annual meeting of provincial and territorial leaders.

Representative Doug Ford also said that he still intends to oppose the Canada-wide regulations, which will come into force next year and demand that the province has introduced a payment for emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
