Intense pictures, beautiful performance and love story that is unique, Edward scissorhands is one of the most beautiful masterpieces of Tim Burton, one of the most beautiful performance of Johnny Depp. And if everything had been different ?
For those who don’t remember, Edward Scissorhands is not an ordinary man because he is not born, but was created. He has a heart to love, a brain to understand… But, died before he could finish his work, the inventor leaves it terribly lonely, with the place of the hands of the blades and sharp instruments.
Heat Vision has carefully dusted off an interview, dating back to 1999, with Johnny Depp for Charlie Rose, where the actor admits to the sense of ongoing insecurity that he felt in working with Tim Burton, a feeling that reached its climax on the filming ofEdward scissorhands in December 1990.
“In fact, I spent the first two weeks of Ed Wood, Edward scissorhands and Sleepy Hallow to think that I was going to be fired, that I was going to be replaced. But by chance, Tim was happy with my game, and I have not lost my job.”
True, it was mostly for the barbec’
As it is still difficult to imagine this movie of Tim Burton without Johnny Depp, and the pair was able to shine as their collaborations (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, the legend of the headless horseman, Edward scissorhands, Sweeney Todd…), Johnny Depp has finally developed his theory during the interview, the one where Tom Hanks would play Edward scissorhands :
“I remember that, during the filming of Edward scissorhands, we lived in this kind of resort, a kind of country club, there was a knock at the door… one afternoon while everyone else was rehearsing. There were two young girls at the door and I said to myself, “Oh, I have found and maybe they want me to sign something,” I said, “How’s it going ?” and they answered “Hi, is that Tom Hanks is there ? Is-this-that he lives here ?” I retorted “What ? No. Not yet.” And I was convinced that Tom Hanks was going to replace me. I was convinced of it. It was one of the moments in the most frightening of my career. “
Big time paranoia or a fear of not being up to par, the story is droll, is it not ?
… but not Johnny !
