Andrei Tyurin is accused of the abduction of personal data of more than 100 million people
The United States extradited the Russian citizen, who is accused of committing cyber attacks on American companies, according to the Chronicle.info with reference to LIGA.News.
According to the US Secret service, which worked jointly with the FBI and prosecutors, 35-year-old resident of Moscow Andrey Tyurin extradited from Georgia. Previously, he was arrested by the Georgian authorities at the request of the United States.
The Deputy Director of the FBI William Sweeney stated that Tyurin is suspected that for a long time tried to hack into computer systems of financial institutions and publishers of financial news. Among incriminated crimes – the largest in U.S. history, the theft of personal data of customers of an American financial institution.
According to the investigation, from approximately 2012 to mid-2015 Tyurin conducted hacking attacks on American companies, stealing personal data more than 100 million people.
Tyurin had acted within the criminal group, three other members of which were in Israel. Two of them were arrested in Israel in 2015 and extradited to the United States in 2016, the third was arrested in the US in 2016.
In case of recognition guilty, Tyurin may be sentenced to a lengthy term of detention and conduct behind bars to 30 years.
