The world began to buy more computers.
Market personal komputerow increased in the second quarter of 2018, for the first time in several years.
These data are confirmed by two analytical company: Gartner and IDC, reported the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to nv.ua.
While IDC said the increase in sales by 2.7 percent, while Gartner on a more modest 1.4 percent. Interestingly, IDC reported on the potential growth of the market in late 2017, but Gartner and IDC tracking PC sales in different ways.
IDC includes Chromebook and excludes Windows tablets, including devices with a detachable keyboard, like Surface Pro. Gartner considers Windows tablets as a PC and eliminates Chromebook and various “non-standard tablets”. Last year the first Chromebooks ensured the growth in the PC segment, but now it becomes clear that sales growth also occurs on a normal Windows PC or Mac. This is the first year growth in PC shipments in the first quarter of 2012.
It is expected that the business PC with Windows 10 is expected to stimulate further growth of sales of computers.
“The growth in PC shipments in the second quarter of 2018 was due to the demand in the business market, which offset the decrease in deliveries to the consumer segment. In the business segment this momentum will weaken in two years when the peak of the replacement for Windows 10,” says Gartner principal analyst Mikako Kitagawa.
“While traditional computers is perhaps not suitable for absolutely any task, the market continues to show stability as the experience with PC evolving and improving. Some types of desktops are showing growth against the background of the refresh cycles of equipment in the companies,” said Jay Chou, research Manager at IDC.
Recently, market leaders are HP, Lenovo, Dell, Apple and Acer. Gartner gives the first place to Lenovo, while IDC says HP about leadership. In the description of the places from third to fifth, both companies are unanimous: the two leaders followed by Dell, Apple and Acer. Five producers will continue to dominate the market, as PC sales seem to stabiliziruemost after many years of decline.
