Austria has detained a former Colonel in its armed forces.
The Austrian retired Colonel, who is suspected 28-year-old espionage in favor of Russia, was arrested Saturday and is in custody.
Information publication confirmed the Prosecutor Robert Holzleitner. The arrest resulted in a probability of escape of a suspect and possible committing of crimes.
The decision on pre-trial detention of the suspect will be taken on Monday or Tuesday. Likely the spy, according to the law, could face up to 10 years in prison.
Austria has detained a former Colonel of the armed forces, the suspect 20-year-old espionage in favor of Russia. The Austrian foreign Minister Karin Kneissl in this regard has canceled a planned trip to Moscow.
Kneisl said that in the case of confirmation of suspicion in espionage the Russian-Austrian relations will be seriously burdened.
The detained Colonel of the Austrian army, who worked from 1990-x years in the Russian military intelligence GRU, confessed to espionage activities against Austria in favor of Russia.
