In China, the world’s first military attack helicopter got armor out of graphene

В Китае впервые в мире боевой ударный вертолет получил броню из графена

Chinese military analysts argue that the test showed high durability and the reliability of the new armor.

In China began to explore new types of armor for the armed forces; so, as an experiment, one of the military attack helicopters Z-10 Military-air forces of China were equipped with the new graphene armor, reports the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to zn.ua.

Up to this point, Chinese helicopters of its own design, unlike the Russian, American, and NATO, were not fitted with additional armor, as the power of their engines was enough to move the extra weight. However, graphene is light enough and heavy duty material and therefore graphene armor covering the cockpit and fuel tank.

The main reason for this “innovation” is that attack helicopters like Z-10 is designed to fight mostly ground targets; their flights are mostly low to the ground, and so they remain highly vulnerable to air defense. However, it is unlikely that graphene armor will protect the helicopter from a direct hit, but not to stop bullets and fragments, it is quite capable.

Chinese military analysts argue that the test showed high durability and the reliability of the new armor at a low cost of manufacture; accordingly, soon is expected to start mass production of graphene armor and equip her aircraft.
