The Italian government imposes fines and confiscation of vehicles for those citizens who are in the country for more than 60 days and run a car on foreign registration, reports the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
These innovations are contained in the adopted law on security, according to ANSA on Friday, November 8th. The authorities intend to put an end to tax evasion by those Italians who ride foreign cars. The law also applies to foreigners who live and work in Italy.
About innovations, said the Minister of infrastructure and transport, Danilo Toninelli.
“We included in the safety act provision which denies those who reside in Italy for more than 60 days, to drive cars with foreign number plates”, he said.
The Minister assured that those who try to circumvent paying taxes, will face serious fines, and if they don’t preregistered a car confiscation.
Violators will have to pay a penalty of 712 euros. Within 180 days, the owner will be forced to re-register the car in this period the car will be stored in the warehouse. If the vehicle for the term of preregistered, confiscate it.
“I’m very proud of this measure, which aims to stop a practice that harms all of us, takes the money and is harmful to those Italian companies that operate legally,” the Minister said.
