The suspect, currently indicted for the murder of Martine Escadeillas, is finally back on his confession.
This 55 year old male was arrested on the 22nd of January last, and was recognized in police custody for his involvement in the murder, claiming to have slid into violence after having been jilted by the young woman.
But he had not given more information and had not indicated the whereabouts of the body. Presented again on Friday before a judge of instruction, he finally retracted and is going to appeal his placement in detention on remand.
Martine Escadeillas disappeared on December 8, 1986 in Ramonville-Saint-Agne, a suburb of Toulouse. Around 8: 30, the young 24 year old woman was returned to her apartment after dropping off her companion in a car at a bus stop. But, after that, it no longer has any sign of life.
His relatives, worried not to have news, had found traces of blood on the stairway of his building and a big puddle of blood in the cellar.
