The marchers walked from the metro station Coney island” (Cony Island Stillwell Ave subway station) at the Brighton Beach Boardwalk. Way passed and past the restaurant “Tatiana”, where last year he popped up and chased after the column of extremely aggressive visitor. He did not harm any of the participants of the parade, as time was stopped by the police on duty around the perimeter of the pride.

“OUT and PROUD” — the main slogan of pride. According to the organizers, it is difficult exactly to translate this phrase into Russian language. The expression comes from coming out — or the appearance and be out in the language of the LGBT community means “to be visible”.

The posters could be considered signs in support of the LGBT community in different post-Soviet countries such as Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Muslim refugees and Chechen LGBT. The leitmotif of the pride was the support of LGBT people in countries where homophobic sentiments are gaining strength. But there were the good old slogan: “Sausages enough for everyone”, “We your customers”, “Brighton — our home”, “Down with racism, homophobia, sexism”, “This is what democracy looks like”, “We are queer, We are here”, “Homophobia — the terror that homophobic to be a disgrace”, etc.

The organizers say that the reaction of the locals on the pride were mostly positive or neutral, but not without aggressive action on the part of passers-by. For example, at the beginning of the pride of a passerby tried to put a verbal argument with terraced Marshal, and was also the case with the elderly man, who began to argue that gay marriage is bad. But in General the atmosphere was much calmer than a year ago. According to the organizers, even in the restaurant “Tatiana”, the visitors smiled at the marchers, shooting photos and videos, and some are waiting for the pride.

We are pleasantly surprised by the change in the atmosphere in just a year“, — emphasized in the organization RUSA LGBT.

Serious provocations during the campaign were recorded. But the organizers partially attribute this to the fact that this year baboutmost of the chants and slogans were in English and many residents of Brighton beach, especially the older generation, do not know the language and may not understand their meaning.
