Today, August 6, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said that the decision of NATO to accept Georgia into its ranks could trigger a “terrible conflict.”

The words of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation sounded a few weeks after President Vladimir Putin warned NATO that develop a closer relationship with Ukraine and Georgia is irresponsible. Then the Russian leader stressed that such actions will have uncertain implications for political-military Alliance.

It can provoke terrible conflict. It is not clear why this is necessary“, – said Medvedev in an interview with the Kommersant FM radio station, continuing the Putin’s rhetoric on this issue.

NATO leaders discussed possible relations with Georgia at the summit in Brussels, which took place in July. During the meeting they also signed a joint Declaration in which he accused Russia of violating international law,”provocative military actions“.
