Power outages: 13 schools closed in Monteregie

News

Power outages force the School Board of Patriots in Monteregie to close 13 of its schools for the rest of the day. In Laval, all establishments remain open despite numerous power outages.

Primary and secondary schools in Boucherville, St-Amable and Verchères are affected.

“For elementary schools, school staff started making phone calls to see if anyone could pick up their child or take him home. For secondary schools, management ensures that students have a key to return home, otherwise they will be able to stay in school, “reads a message from the school board.

As a result, school transportation has been advanced to allow students to return home.

The Commission scolaire des Patriotes specifies that parents who have questions can directly call the schools concerned. These are private email, we add.

The Laval School Board has not closed its facilities, although some have been affected this morning by blackouts.

“Despite this situation, schools remain open, students stay in class and the return home will be as usual,” notes the school board on its website.

Approximately 140,000 Hydro-Quebec customers currently have no electricity, mainly in the Laurentians, Laval, Lanaudiere, Montreal and Monteregie regions.
