Quebec: trucker arrested for driving drugs after a series of accidents

A trucker suspected of impaired drug use when he caused a cascade of accidents Thursday morning in Quebec City was arrested and transported to the hospital where he was under observation.

According to what was learned by the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), around 7:20 am, motorists reported the erratic conduct of the trucker who was driving on the Henri-IV highway.

After entering the ramp leading to boulevard Chauveau, he allegedly hit a car, which was projected on another. A Capital Transit Network (RTC) bus was also fired, but there were no passengers on board.

In this series of collisions, a woman was injured in her legs, but the SPVQ ensures that her life is not in danger.

When the police arrived at the scene of the accident, the driver of the truck, aged 39, showed aggression. The police officers had to use force to control him, arrest him and arrange transportation to the hospital.

The SPVQ says that clues quickly led officers to believe the suspect was intoxicated with drugs. He has been subjected to blood tests and is at risk of criminal charges.
