The saga Resident Evil has been part of these movies void that we love to watch to 2 hours in the morning, with some friends, beers and cigarettes that make them laugh. But something tells us that the reboot, it’s not going to be the same idea.

If the news was hardly surprising in the background, we never thought that it had to happen so quickly. In fact, a few months after the release of the latest installment of Paul W. S. Anderson, the infamous Resident Evil : final Chapter, learn us that the saga was about to experience a reboot. And obviously, we would not laugh at all because Sony and Constantin Films announced that James Wan would be the producer. And when we see what he does with the ghosts and the demons in the Conjuring, we say that it is clearly not there to joke.

My name is Alice and I am finally to the unemployment…

Since then, we no longer really new in the project other than sporadically , and it was apparent that the studio did not seem very decided about what he wanted to do with Resident Evil. Up to today, where the screenwriter Greg Russo reveals to the mic Discussing the Films of the reboot that he was in charge of writing is mainly inspired by Resident Evil 7:

“I’m obviously a big fan of the franchise, so working on this film was more than pleasant. They have already made 6 movies, then when you get it to reboot, you want to make something different and not just remake everything. For me, it was obvious that I wanted to go back to the roots horrific and make it to new terrifying, as a horror film in the style of James Wan. So, that was the idea, back to what made these games scary to begin with, so yes, Resident Evil 7, it was a bit the base of my version.”

Not the same rant

A logical choice, and smart as Resident Evil 7 was a real return to the sources of the saga by presenting the action on the survival and the puzzles, which did the most good after the big delusions WTF of Resident Evil 6. And it would seem that the studio is also prompt to go in this direction, though :

“I’ve been working on the reboot for almost a year and the producer James Wan has happened, which has put more or less the end of my engagement on this project. So I’m not sure that they will go in this direction. But when I made my version, they were very happy. Now, it is up to them to decide what they will do and I am no longer involved in the film.”

In short, more than ever, the new Resident Evil is the plays mysterious.

Welcome to the family
