RPM seizes 1900 tablets of metamphetamine in Magog

The Régie de police Memphrémagog made a major seizure of methamphetamine on Lessard Street in Magog.

M arc-André Bertrand, age 33, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and various breaches of conditions.

In his home, the police seized 1939 methamphetamine tablets.

“This is one of the big seizures made in Magog. We also found several other substances that will need to be analyzed. There are tablets, but also liquid substances that could be GHB, “says Lt. Sylvain Guay of the Régie de Police Memphremagog.

White weapons and a rifle were also found at his home.

During his arrest, the defendant resisted his arrest. The police had to use an electric impulse weapon to control it.

“It was a distress call that led the police on the spot. In trying to help him, the authorities found the presence of narcotics “explains the lieutenant Guay.

Once his condition was deemed stable by the medical authorities, Bertrand was brought to court for his appearance.

The accused was back on Tuesday before Justice Paul Dunnigan of the Court of Quebec at the Sherbrooke courthouse.

Given that he is accused of other leaders in Longueuil, his lawyer Alexandre Tardif asked that Bertrand be transferred to this judicial district to first undergo an initial investigation on the release of a narcotics case.

The man is expected to return on August 26 for his second bail hearing.

Marc-André Bertrand has several criminal records that he has accumulated since 2002.
