Guide unified school district J27 in the state of Colorado decided to shorten the school week for middle and high school up to 4 days. Yesterday, on August 14, it became known that in some schools the County classes will be held from Tuesday to Friday from 8.30 to 16.30.
Thus, thousands of students of Brighton, Commerce city, Henderson and Thorntonand the counties of Adams, Broomfield and weld from the beginning of the new academic year will be on the new schedule.
According to reporters ABC7, the reason for this controversial decision is purely financial: J27 is the least funded school district in the state. The reduction of the training week will allow schools to save on transportation of students and communal services of the order of $1 million. But parents are outraged that now they have to wrestle with where to place their children in the working day.
The primary school will offer the service of childcare for $30 a day.
With the shortened week is already familiar to many rural schools in the state. Now officials are trying to implement a 4-day stay in a large school district J27.
“At national level we are, perhaps, one of the largest districts, — said the representative J27 Tracy Rudnick. — So it will be an interesting year, because our work will be to observe people.”
On the official website of the school district leadership J27 explained such an innovation the need for strategic planning of educational process, assuring that the savings will be spent on the so-called Thinking Classrooms where students will obtain skills that will help them after graduation.
Meanwhile, in one of the school districts new Jersey postponed the beginning of the school day so that children get adequate sleep.
