The ritual complex is about three thousand years. Many of the objects found in the stone structure, indicates their ritual purpose gold ornaments, mortars and millstones with traces of pigments and hallucinogenic plants, as well as more than two dozen infant victims.

The salt-flats of the Salar de Atacama in the Chilean desert was the habitat of tribes of hunter-gatherers between 1110 BC and 550-360 years B. C. Archaeologists named this place – Tulane-54. Near it is the Tulane-52, which people settled a thousand years before.

“This large and complex buildings design, construction and maintenance of which required considerable expenditure of energy. And the use of hallucinogens, pottery, fine gold jewelry says about elaborate rituals,” the researchers say.

The complex consists of several rooms, in which there were 10 nodules, pits, and 28 infant burials. In two of them the archaeologists found gold and ceramic jewelry, including a delicate head of a vulture with eyes of green malachite.
