The device was first tested on humans.

The scanned x-rays, which makes three-dimensional color images. Examples of the images published on the website of the new Zealand company MARS Bioimaging, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the UNN.

Technology invented by the Butler family: the father works as a physicist at the University of Canterbury, and his son, a radiologist at the universities of Otago and Canterbury. “Scanners take pictures of MARS on which it is possible to distinguish between soft tissue, fat and bones,” the scientists write.

An x-ray done on the basis of special detectors with high energy resolution. Originally, these detectors were developed for the LHC, but the Butlers have adapted them for medical purposes.

The first person that has experienced a color x-ray, was one of its founders. Phil Butler scanned the ankle and wrist.

Now the developers will conduct a clinical trial in which doctors will use to compare new and old equipment.
