On the occasion of the international day of the rights of the child, which is taking place this Tuesday, November 20, Bayard Jeunesse has developed a guide entitled “Stop sexual violence made to the children”.

20 000 miners are complaining of sexual violence each year. A good reason for parents to address this topic yet so gentle with their children. To help and on the occasion of the international day of the rights of the child, Bayard Jeunesse has produced a booklet of prevention aimed at 7-12 year olds and free download.

The purpose of this guide, entitled” Stop sexual violence made to the children ? Helping more young people recognize a dangerous situation, react to an adult who behaves badly, and know what to do and who to talk to if it has already happened or if this happens one day.

Three scenarios and advice

In this booklet, the sexual violence are explained through three scenarios, all followed advice. The first is the stage for a child who is trapped on the internet by exchanging with a stranger. It is recommended never to play a game on the web without notifying his parents, or never to give his name, his age and address.

The second situation deals with a child victim of his coach rugby. The guide explains that there is no shame to have and that it is necessary to talk to their parents or an adult that you trust, to go and lodge a complaint so that this does not happen again.

The third story is about a child victim of his uncle. The booklet states : “If a member of your family, even close to and that you like, try to touch the intimate parts of your body, know that it is forbidden : it’s called the inceste and it is serious. The only way out is to talk about it (…) If someone tells you to keep secret something weird happened between you, this is not normal. It is even an alarm that should make you think that there is a danger”.

The main message to remember and to pass on to children ? In the Face of sexual violence, the only solution is to talk to a trusted adult, that it is to his parents, to his master or his mistress, or even the school nurse.
