This year’s Booker prize goes against the rules and traditions of awarding the prize on Monday announced two winners. They were Margaret Atwood (Margaret Atwood) and Bernardine Evaristo (Bernardine Evaristo).
Atwood was awarded for the book “the Covenants,” continued “Said the maids”. Evaristo takes top book award for the novel “a girl, a woman, another woman.”
Only the third time in the history of the Booker prize winners from the two authors. Since 1993, the rules state that the winner can be only one, but this year the judges just couldn’t choose the best of two famous writers.
“For an agonizing five hours, the judges of the Booker prize 2019 found it impossible to single out one winner,” said Gaby wood, literary Director of the prize Fund. Both authors will share the prize Fund in the amount of $ 60,000.
Bernardine Evaristo is the first African-American woman, received the Pulitzer prize.
