The body recovered from the wreckage of the Piper Malibu has been formally identified by the medical examiner. He is the footballer Emiliano Sala.
The carcass of the plane was located on Sunday, about twenty miles north of Guernsey, in the same place where the single-engine piloted by David Ibbotson (59 years old) had stopped issuing.
A rescue operation was allowed on Wednesday to trace the body to the surface.
He had been transported to Portland Thursday morning, where the examinations have been held. Emiliano Sala was 28 years old.
