The trial of a caregiver filmed last February in the process of force and insult the patient of a long-term care facilities takes place this Friday the 22nd. He is liable to five years in prison.
The case had shocked us all by re-launching the debate on the abuse of the elderly in retirement homes. The caregiver who had been filmed being force a in his nineties in a nursing home in the Val-de-Marne is considered this Friday by the court of Créteil.
Suspecting violence, the family had installed smuggled a camera in the room of the in his nineties in the beginning of February. One morning, the resident was found with a broken leg and without that no incidents have been reported. The video had revealed that she had fallen from her bed. She had called for help for an hour before the caregiver arrives.
The insults have been raining: “shut your gu…, old s…, do ch…”. The man would have been violently dragged by the leg for putting him in his bed and repeatedly beaten while his victim begged him to stop.

The individual was indicted in stride and placed in provisional detention. He had first denied the facts, before being confronted with the images and confess. The defense was granted a delay to prepare for the trial.
The father of the family 57-year-old, the accused was described by counsel for the nursing home, questioned by Le Figaro, as “a man who worked in the house for nine years, very appreciated by his colleagues, his superiors and the families of the residents”. The school is constituted as a civil party.
The fifty-year-old will have to respond to “violence that resulted in more than eight days of ITT on a person whose particular vulnerability due to age is known of their author”, made punishable by 5 years prison and 75.000 € of fine.
