Hike in the beautiful ice cave in Wyoming almost ended in tragedy for the young couple climbers from Idaho. They lost their way and spent there 2 days.
Spencer and Jessica Christiansen decided on the weekend to go to Woyming — ice cave in Darby Canyon. According to the couple (by the way, both experienced climbers), they are a few weeks studied the information about the cave on the Internet, but the reality was not so simple.
The Rangers had planned to hold in the cave for a few hours, but after a while realized that he was lost. Some of the information posted online by other “researchers” of the cave, turned out to be untrue. “We realized that we have a serious problem”, says Spencer.
The couple wisely decided to stay put and wait for rescue, not trying to find their own way out of the icy maze.
To warm up, they had to burn at the stake almost everything they had with them: baseball cap, backpack, gloves, business cards from her purse and even strands of their own hair. Risky climbers spent in the cave for almost 2 days, and suddenly I heard voices.
As it turned out, lifeguards called parents of spouses, when they didn’t show up for his little daughter, whom they left with relatives on a hike.
The miraculous escape happened in the birthday of Spencer.
A couple’s life is not threatened, but a couple of days they still had to spend in the hospital because of hypothermia and frostbite of the hands.
“Very scary to think that your child is left without parents; it is terrible to realize that you have no choice, ‘said Jessica Christiansen. — The worst thing was when he and Spencer got scared. I always believed that he’ll get me out, but seeing as he’s scared, I realized: this is the end”.
Despite such a scary experience, Spencer Christiansen said it was an unforgettable birthday. “I would like to go there again, prepare thoroughly — taking with them enough water and food. It was the most beautiful and amazing cave I have ever seen”.
