Sign of the times, we can already measure the success of a film, just the trailer. And The Lion King, Jon Favreau, if one follows this logic, will fart all the scores.
It should also be said that Disney did not choose the time, by chance, to unveil the first trailer of the Lion King version 2019. Full Thanksgiving dinner, family celebration par excellence, the studio knew that people were going to watch it. And it has not missed since, in a few hours, everyone was talking about the return of Simba, Timon and Pumba on the social networks, in the street, in the cafeteria of the box, in the subway.
Everywhere you are told, it is the world that was saved from a coup, the Humanity that was a common goal, Trump, Macron and Putin, who acknowledged that they had gone a little too far away and subjected them to the history of life by singing Hakuna Matata all together on Skype.
Happen in conquered territory (metaphor)
Okay, we’re exaggerating a tad, but the fact is that the first trailer for the classic Disney version Jon Favreau has just farted in terms of views since Disney, in a big smile, announced very recently via a good big tweet of the families that the trailer occupied the second place in the ranking of the trailers most viewed in the world in the space of 24 hours :
“For our biggest pride. Thank you to all of you who have helped the trailer of the Lion King to become the trailer for Disney’s the longer view of the history, enabling it to achieve an incredible record of 224,6 million views in 24 hours !”
A figure that gives of course the dizzy but which occupies only the second place in the standings, the first place being reserved for Avengers : Infinity War, which had accounted for 238 million views over the same period. And if we look in our crystal ball, we say that The Lion King should meet him as a score-smashing at the box-office, as this record demonstrates exceptional enthusiasm for the movie, so it won’t come out before the 17th July next.
If we are somewhat mixed on this trailer, which brings nothing more than the plan by plan in relation to the Lion King original, the popularity of the film, therefore, is not to call into question and suggests that people are, at bottom, want to revise always the same thing. And this is the less cool of the case because it gives reason for Disney to remake all its classics rather than go all the way in the innovation. Anyway, this is another debate…
