British newspaper the Guardian has changed the spelling of the capital of Ukraine in their stylistic reference. Now the city name will be written in accordance with the rules for transcription of English – Kyiv, not in the Soviet tradition.
This was reported by one of the journalists on his page on Twitter.
From now on will write in their articles the name of the capital of Ukraine in accordance with spelling in English is Kyiv.
The exception is sustained, the phrase “chicken Kiev”, which will remain “chicken kiev”.
The word of Kyiv will use the journalists of the Observer, which is part of one media group from The Guardian.
