The nominees for the Emmy 2018: for whom are we rooting, and who will win
Author: Anastasia Bielsko
Emmy Emmy Awards of the 2018 series
On Thursday morning the Television Academy announced the full list of nominees 2018 Emmy Awards. This year for the statuette compete as our old friends (“the Americans”, “the handmaid’s Tale”) and promising newcomers (“Killing eve”, “the Sinner”), and, although the awards ceremony two months, why not start betting on your favourites now?
Who will almost certainly receive a long-awaited Emmy, and who will be hurt are we?
“The handmaid’s tale” (Hulu)
“Game of thrones” (HBO)
“Very strange things” (Netflix)
“The Americans” (FX)
Yes, you read that right, the list is almost identical to last year – everyone who lost to the “handmaid’s Tale” in 2016, returned to try again. They will be another disappointment in the face of a second victory of the maidens, who remain one of the best series on American TV. Although, it is not necessary to discard the politically correct “we” — there is a chance, albeit small.
With all the love to the “World wild West” and “Americans” for “the handmaid’s Tale” they can’t keep up. Yes, we too ache for “the maids” – these are predictable.
Sterling K. brown, “we are” (NBC)
Matthew Rhys, “the Americans” (FX)
Milo Ventimiglia, “we are” (NBC)
Jason Bateman, “Ozark” (Netflix)
Jeffrey Wright, “Westworld” (HBO)
Ed Harris, “Westworld” (HBO)
And still “we” in the list of nominees – almost a sentence. The critics shed tears of emotion, praising the sentimental plot twists and vsypayut the series all the statues, which comes handy, should he be the candidate anything. On the other hand, won’t rule out the possibility that “Amy” with him will carry Matthew Rhys as a tribute to the final season of “the Americans.”
Of course, you are not obliged to feel sympathy for the sinister Man in black, killing over two seasons of the “World Wild West” a whole bunch of people, but you have to admire the acting work of ed Harris, through which he became one of the most colorful characters of the series.
Elisabeth moss, “the handmaid’s Tale” (Hulu)
Keri Russell, the Americans (FX)
Sandra Oh, “Killing eve” (BBC America)
Claire Foy, The “Crown” (Netflix)
Evan Rachel wood, “Westworld” (HBO)
Tatiana Maslany, “orphan black” (BBC America)
With a 95 percent probability – Elisabeth moss, the second time in a row. Not too unexpectedly, but deservedly.
If you imagine for a second that Emmy this year, still picking someone else, then why not Tatiana Maslany? In the end, she’s the only one in the list has played more than 10 characters in a single show: who else can boast this?
“The incredible Mrs. Maisel” (Amazon)
“Silicon valley” (HBO)
“Curb your enthusiasm” (HBO)
“Indomitable Kimmy Schmidt” (Netflix)
To answer this question without even looking at the list of nominees. No matter how good the “GLOW” and “the Incredible Mrs. Maisel”, they will have to patiently wait for the latest season of “Atlanta” to compete for the award.
If you don’t root for the “Atlanta”, you most likely have not watched Atlanta. No, seriously, must see.
Donald Glover, “Atlanta” (FX)
Bill bill Hader, “Barry” (HBO)
Anthony Anderson, “Blackish” (ABC)
William H. Macy, “Shameless” (Showtime)
Larry David, “Curb your enthusiasm” (HBO)
Ted Danson, “In a better world” (NBC)
Donald Glover – not only the leading actor of “the Atlanteans”, but, in addition, the author, screenwriter and Director of several episodes. We were a bit surprised that it, everything else is not made by the composer, cameraman and casting Manager: if someone was able to handle everything equally well, only Glover.
Of course, on account of his already has one Emmy for the role of Erna Marx, but why not again?
To be completely honest, we always thought the real star of “Atlanta” Brian Tyree Henry: nobody is as good to reflect a range of emotions, just raising an eyebrow. But since the Henry in the list of nominees is absent, there is another option – bill bill Hader, who played a major role in one of the most underrated black comedies of recent years (and also, incidentally, speaking of her co-author).
Maybe this year, a Hitman with an identity crisis and not too big odds to beat the favorite of critics Glover, but in the next…
Rachel Brosnahan, “the Incredible Mrs. Masel” (Amazon)
Tracy Ellis Ross, “Blackish” (ABC)
Allison Janney, “Mom” (CBS)
Lily Tomlin, “grace and Frankie” (Netflix)
Pamela Adlon, “the Best things” (FX)
Issa RAE, “Uncertain” (HBO)
This year more than “the Incredible Mrs. Maisel”, critics only praise Rachel Brosnahan, who performed a role in it – Yes, guess! Mrs. Maisel. They can understand the image of the housewife who discovered her talent for stand-APU, Brosnahan really incredible.
Four seasons and no Emmy, but it would be nice if Lily Tomlin finally received a well-deserved statuette for her role irresistible hippie Frankie Bergstein.
Benedict Cumberbatch, “Patrick Melrose” (Showtime)
Jeff Daniels, “the Ghost tower” (Hulu)
Darren Chris, “the Murder of Gianni Versace” (FX)
Antonio Banderas, “The Genius: Picasso” (National Geographic)
John legend, “Jesus Christ superstar” (NBC)
Jesse Plemons, “Black mirror: USS Callister” (Netflix)
Let’s be honest: lots of nominations for “Emmy” was written on the poster “Patrick Melrose” before the release of the first series. Is it worth it to see the debut footage, which has just learned of the death of his father the hero Cumberbatch quietly smiling at this news, as all becomes clear – that he is our winner in the nomination “best actor”. No intrigue, honestly.
Although, in fairness, the role of the heroin dealer of Melrose Benedict Cumberbatch really is gorgeous – so, so cumberbatches.
But, it would seem, any sense at all for someone to get sick, if one of the nominees is Cumberbatch?
The award ceremony is likely to be spared visually flawless, but, in essence, a fairly mediocre second season of “American crime story”, this time centering upon the death of designer Gianni Versace and his killer Andrew Cunnane – flawless performance finally escaped from the shackles of teenage musicals with Darren Chris. Yes, Emmy is unlikely to get Chris this year, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve her.
Laura Dern, “Story” (HBO)
Michelle Dockery, “Forgotten God” (Netflix)
Sarah Paulson, “American horror story: Cult”(FX)
Jessica Biel, “the Sinner” (USA)
Edie Falco, “Law & Order True Crime” (NBC)
Regina king, “Seven seconds” (Netflix)
Benedict Cumberbatch— stop. Most likely the statue will take another favorite Television Academy – Laura Dern – won the hearts of critics “the Story”.
Our choice – Sarah Paulson, who saved his game is one of the weakest seasons of “American horror story”. At least for this she is entitled to the reward.
“The killing of Gianni Versace” (FX)
“Forgotten God” (Netflix)
“Patrick Melrose” (Showtime)
“Genius: Picasso” (National Geographic)
Well, of course “Patrick Melrose”. We’re almost resigned.
One of the most atmospheric and stylistically perfect thrillers of recent years has somehow remained almost unnoticed against the background of their more famous colleagues. Hardly”Alienist” will take away from the ceremony at least one statue, but we would love him and no nominations for “Emmy”.
