The humanitarian response plan for Ukraine to 2019 will be presented to the member countries of the UN meeting today, February 12.
This was stated by the speaker of Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN, Oleg Nikolenko, reports “UKRINFORM”.
It is clarified that the plan aims to assist in ensuring that priority needs of Ukrainians who suffered from the Russian aggression in the occupied Donbas on both sides of the demarcation line.
“This year, the UN declared $ 163 million. According to calculations of the organization, this amount should enable to help the 2.3 million Ukrainians from among the most vulnerable categories of citizens in the East of our state,” said Olga Nicolenco.
He stressed that the implementation of humanitarian aid in the Donbass will be engaged more than 40 organizations, including UN agencies, national and international organizations. It is expected that the Fund will be through contributions from donors.
According to Nikolenko, the Ukrainian side is actively cooperating with foreign partners to consolidate the necessary funds.
Particularly important are the visits of foreign officials to the Donbass, so they could ensure that the residents of Eastern Ukraine require humanitarian assistance.
Nikolenko reminded that the difficult situation of the population of Donbass will be discussed at speczadanie UN 20 Feb.
“We are going to talk about the difficult humanitarian situation in the Donbas during the first session of the UN General Assembly on the situation in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine of 20 February,” said the Ukrainian representative.
