Five days before the Unification of the Cathedral to create a Single national Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the Primate of the UOC (KP) Filaret has said about procedural disagreements with Constantinople. Recall that the Cathedral will be held in St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev December 15, 2018.
According to TSN, the Ukrainian bishops will not agree with two claims of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. First, in Kiev, advocated that the Cathedral was the Episcopal, and in Constantinople insist on its transparency and the participation of ordinary believers and priests. Secondly, the Ukrainian bishops in favor of open voting in the elections of the new independent churches, and the Ecumenical Patriarch are supporters of the secret ballot.
“The Kyivan Patriarchate is a very large Church. And it depends on us, we will take what we will require, or will not accept. If it would be helpful to us, we will take. If this is not helpful neither to us, neither the state nor the Church, we simply do not vote”, — said Filaret.
As previously reported “FACTS” in a letter to the Patriarch of Constantinople — the invitations to the Council says that each Bishop will be able to bring a cleric and a monk or layman, having the right to vote. After preliminary ballot will be formed ballot with three candidates. After this Primate to choose only the bishops of the three candidates.
