Twitter will cease placing political advertising, said Wednesday the company’s CEO Jack Dorsey (Jack Dorsey).
“We made the decision to stop all political advertising on Twitter worldwide. We believe that the political message must be received, not bought,” wrote Dorsey.
According to him, political positions will get coverage when people decide to sign up for an account, or retweet. Payment for coverage takes this decision by guiding a highly optimized and targeted political messages to people. “We believe that a political solution should not be compromised by money. This decision is based on the principle,” he added.
On Wednesday Twitter CFO Ned Segal tweeted that the company earned less than $ 3 million on political advertising in 2018.
