The film “Woman in war”, which was jointly shot by Iceland, France and Ukraine, became one of the winners of the competition program “Week of criticism” at the Cannes film festival.
Drama “Woman in war” received a prize from the Society of authors for best screenplay, writes the Chronicle.info with reference to 24tv.ua.
The Director of the film is the Icelander Benedikt Erlingsson, who also wrote the screenplay for the film, together with Alaura Agellum Egilsson.
Among the members of the Ukrainian team that worked on the film – Executive producer Marianna Novikova, the second Director Vasily Belousov, video engineer Igor Kosenko, costume designer Mary Kero and decorator Lucy Malyshko. The tape was partially funded by the Ukraine: the state has allocated for shooting 10 million (the total budget of the film amounted to 76 million).
In the film “Woman at war” raises the theme of environmental degradation that is transmitted through the struggle of a woman who, in contrast to the whole society decides to take on the mission for the protection of nature. The main character – the conductor of the choir and ecoactivity. In addition to the fight against businesses that pollute the environment, the woman waits for results from the adoption Agency, and she is told what awaits her four year old Ukrainian girl from Druzhkovka. The shooting was carried out in Iceland and Ukraine.
