Lalami Laila (Laila Lalami), Marlon James (Marlon James), Sarah M. broom (Sarah M. Broom) and other ultra-modern writers included in the short list of finalists of the National book award this year.
Among the eminent writers have and new name – Aquaice of Emese and Julia Phillips. Almost all finalists are candidates for the first time, according to Vanity Fair plus. Overall, the short-list of 25 books in the categories of “Youth literature”, “literature”, “fiction”, “Poetry” and the newly established category of “Translated literature”.
Candidates to win were selected by a jury composed of Dense Senna, Kiese Laymon and Jeff Vandermeer, as well as independent booksellers, critics, translators and teachers. With the exception of translated literature in the other categories are considered only the books of U.S. citizens or those in the process of obtaining citizenship.
The winners will be announced on November 20.
