A lifeless body had been recovered last week in the canal of the Deûle.
DNA tests were performed and they revealed that it was the corpse of Yolan Delannoy. The grisly discovery was made near the place of his disappearance.
This teenager, 17-year-old had gone missing on December 15, December to Wavrin, in the North. This evening, he had left the family home and told his parents “I’m out”. It was returning around 22: 00.
His mom and his aunt, anxious not to see it go, had then warned the gendarmes at around 2H00 in the morning.
Very quickly, a wide array of force had been put in place to find him, including a canine unit, a helicopter and divers. The mobile phone of the young man was no longer limited to 23 hours.
The autopsy did not determine, at this stage, the cause of death, and no track is currently preferred.
